Whew! Comments are working again on this blog!
First of all, I apologize for neglecting this blog for so long. I’ve been super busy doing stuff at OpenXmlDeveloper.org, and after interacting there, haven’t had energy for blogging here. But I’m turning over a new leaf – have some great non-Open-XML content to post here (as well as some Open XML content).
Also, as many of you have noticed, comments have not been working on this blog. After learning far more than I wanted to about PHP and MySQL, I finally determined that I had a corrupted comments table in MySQL – I installed phpMyAdmin, and then was able to repair the table, and presto, comments started working again!
I will be working on responding to comments (even old ones) here over the next while. If you leave new comments, I’ll respond to those first, of course!

I managed to follow this thread without using the VM or downloading anything, and got it working.
One problem I have though is when I click an item in the list to view it, I get this error:
Error while executing web part: Microsoft.BusinessData.MetadataModel.InvalidMetadataObjectException: There is an error in the TypeDescriptors of Parameters on Method with Name ‘ReadItem’ on Entity (External Content Type) with Name ‘Customers’ in Namespace ‘Contoso.Crm’. The TypeDescriptors incompletely define where the Identifiers of Entity ‘Customers’ are to be set. That Entity expects a multiple of ‘1’ Identifiers, but only ‘0’ TypeDescriptors were found on which to set them.
So it seems I need to add a type descriptor somewhere. But exactly where, and for what field isn’t clear.
Any hints appreciated.

PPS.
Found the solution. The “Identifier” property must be set on the id parameter for the ReadItem.
I think your instructions say to do this on the “Customers” descriptor when it should be on the “Id” descriptor.

On openxmldeveloper.org on the “Updated version of the Custom UI Editor Tool” page you have this “There is a time for all good things to come to an end, and the time has come to shut down OpenXmlDeveloper.org. I’ve looked over this site and can’t find the Office Custom UI Editor Tool.
What’s the story?
