Screen-Cast: OOXML Tool for the Chrome Browser
Return to the Open XML Screen-Cast SeriesIf we want to crack open an Open XML document, examine and modify the parts and the markup, add new parts, and examine relationships, we can use the Open XML Package Editor PowerTool for Visual Studio. One caveat is that the Open XML Package Editor only works in paid editions of Visual Studio. The community edition does not include the capability to add Visual Studio extensions.
This screen-cast introduces a free, pretty cool alternative to the Package Editor. It is a free extension for Chrome that enables you to open documents by dragging and dropping them onto the extension, then examine and modify the XML in the parts. Further, it has compare capabilities; you can drag two documents onto it, and it will provide you with a part-by-part delta between the two documents.
